Read below about some past fundraisers that have been instrumental in serving the children of China.
A Gift for Three
February 2010- Orphans given the gift of cleft surgery have a far greater prospect for adoption. Teenager Erick Aye is well aware of this reality as the son of an adoption agency director. Erick and his 8th grade class at Holy Rosary Wea Catholic School recently conducted a fundraiser, the proceeds to be used to fully fund a cleft lip surgery for a baby boy [Luke].
Surprisingly, more funds were raised than expected, and a second child [Lindsey] will be given the gift of one year of foster care placement where the experience and exposure of a loving family enhances development in all areas of life. Yet, a third child [Farrell] will be funded for care in a specialized unit where attention is given to individualized nurturing of children with special challenges. We are proud of Erick and his classmates for giving, even beyond their expectation, new hope to three special children.

Baggies of Love
In January 2010, Emily Goode, an adoptive mom and school teacher from Texas, contacted Hope’s Heart asking how she and her students could help us as we prepared for our upcoming mission trip where we will minister in three Chinese orphanages.
Under Emily’s guidance, the 7th grade class of Bracken Christian School [Bulverde, TX] hosted a missions-oriented chapel telling the story of the Chinese orphans and the work of Hope’s Heart. They followed up by leading their fellow students in assembling over 200 ‘Baggies of Love.’ Each bag was filled with a toy car, hair barrettes, stickers, candy and practical items such as shampoo and socks...appropriate for either boys, girls or babies. Affixed to each bag is a sticker that says ‘You are special’ or ‘You are loved.’

Each of 200 orphans will be blessed to receive their very own gift—their very own ‘Baggie of Love.’ Just imagine the twinkle in their eyes and the smile on their face. From past mission trips, we know how something so simple can be so special and impactful. We extend our sincere appreciation to Emily and the middle and high school students of Bracken Christian School for their outreach of generosity.
Family Raises Awareness and Funds
November 2008- One of the goals of Hope's Heart is to spread awareness of the vast numbers of orphans in China. Many people simply do not know of the extensive needs faced by hundreds of thousands of these babies/children/teens each day. One family, however, not only understands, but they did something about it.
We were delighted to be contacted this fall by a wonderful family who desired to spread awareness and help an orphan in honor of National Adoption Month (November). Jay and Jennifer adopted their daughter from China. They joined with Hope's Heart to help a precious little boy named Bing. Bing is an eight year old orphan who was in need of a new prosthetic leg and foot to allow him the opportunity to walk and play.
The family organized a garage sale involving their friends, family, and church in the effort. Through this special gesture of kindness and generosity, many others became more familiar with the situation in China and the ministry of Hope’s Heart Orphan Foundation. Not only was Bing's new leg/foot fully funded but additional monies were raised to assist with another medical need.
Hope's Heart is grateful to Jay and Jennifer for their caring hearts and their initiative to help orphans in need. They are a beautiful example of compassionate hearts giving back.
We encourage you to consider hosting a garage sale or other fund raising event to increase awareness and make a life changing difference for a child.
December UPDATE- Bing is being fitted for his new leg and foot. We hope to soon hear that he is up and running around with his friends.
Lillie's 'Heart of Gold'
September 2007- Happy '13th' Birthday Lillie! For the third year in a row, Lillie is reaching out in an effort to make a difference in the life of one of China's orphans. Lillie is raising funds to pay for baby Connie's cleft lip surgery schedule in November...in a labor of love including a bake sale, garage sale and birthday 'gift' offering.
October UPDATE- Lillie's contribution to Connie's surgery totals over $500. WOW! One person, joined by family and friends, CAN make a difference. THANK YOU, Lillie, for caring so much. Your love and efforts will impact Connie's life in ways we'll never realize.
Please check back in November/December to see the remarkable difference one persons compassionate heart can make in the life of an orphan in need of someone to care.
November UPDATE- Connie had her surgery this month and is recovering well. Keep watching for updated pictures.
March 08 UPDATE- Just look at this happy, energetic little girl...and the miracle her surgery made.
September 2006- Happy Birthday Lillie! Why are we calling attention to Lillie's 12th birthday? Because Lillie continues to exhibit her 'Heart of Gold' with another outreach to China's orphans. In lieu of birthday gifts to her, Lillie's friends contributed to a fund to provide enriched formula for an orphan baby (Feng) in need of special formula. Feng was blessed by Lillie's guest with contributions to provide three months of premium quality formula. Thank you, Lillie and friends!! You have made a tremendous investment in Feng's life.
2005- Eleven-year-old Lillie knows the love and joy a little sister born in China can bring to her family (herself, dad, mom, and 2 older brothers). She also understands that all orphans in China do not get adopted, and they often live with unmet needs.
Lillie has a heart of gold. She wouldn’t let her age hinder her from helping the orphans. During a recent garage sale in her neighborhood, Lillie set up a stand, and sold cookies and juice to raise money for Hope’s Heart. Those funds will go directly to helping an orphan in China.
Thank you, Lillie, for your heart of gold. You are an inspiration to all of us and a blessing to the orphans.
Fundraising efforts come in a hundred different forms. Consider how you might touch the lives of orphans in China through a fundraising event.
Kids helping Kids!
Kids Rock, the children's ministry of Hope Alive Christian Center, came to the aid of orphaned babies in China needing extra nutrition. Through a giving campaign to collect support, Kid's Rock spent three weeks in October [2006] asking their family, friends, neighbors, etc to donate toward this project.
The kids transformed empty baby bottles into bottles full of $1, $5 and $10 bills. The funds were used to purchase high nutrition formula to provide extra nourishment to orphaned babies.
November UPDATE- Two babies were supplied with four months of formula thanks to the efforts of Kid's Rock. The contributions [totaling $280] was used to purchase the formula, and promote healthy growth to the babies. Thank you to the Kids Rock children who made this outreach a success.
Local Congregation Unites to Help Orphans
"I was hungry and you gave me something to eat... I was sick and you looked after me." Hope Alive Christian Center, Overland Park, Kansas, is giving unto the Lord as the congregation raises the support for two orphan needs. The truth of Matthew 25: 34 is becoming a reality both for the orphans and for the children, youth and adults of Hope Alive. Beginning October 1, the congregation will unite to display the love of Christ to orphans half way across the globe.
This precious little girl,Cui, is nine months old and in need of surgery to correct a congenital heart defect, a ventricular septal defect. A VSD is a type of heart defect in which there is a hole in the wall between the heart's lower chambers. Funds will be raised for Cui's surgery from youth and adults contributing the money they would otherwise spend on themselves and transfering those funds to support the surgery costs. The goal is to raise $4,000.
October 18, 2006 UPDATE- Praise God! The goal has been met, and plans are being coordinated to prepare for Cui's heart surgery. Surgery is expected to be scheduled in November. We will keep you updated as new information is received. Thank you for your prayer support as Cui awaits and proceeds through surgery. Please pray for her body to be strengthened and able to have the surgery.
November 10 UPDATE- Cui was examined by a doctor this week. The recommendation was to wait until Cui has grown some [gained strength and weight] before having the surgery. She will be evaluated again in 3 months. She will continue to be monitored during the wait.
December 23 UPDATE- Incredible news! Cui has been re-examined, and the doctors have found that the hole in her heart is smaller than before. If this healing continues, Cui will not need heart surgery. What a blessing for this little one. She will continue to be monitored, but for now, the surgery will not need to be scheduled. The funding for her surgery is being transfered to help two other babies who require heart surgery, Qi and Yi.
January 2007 UPDATE- We have received word that both Yi and Qi are out of surgery and recovering in ICU. What a gift to these two little girls.....a chance to live a healthy life. We continue to pray for their full recovery, and that this surgery will afford them the opportunity to be adopted into a family of their own.
You can read the wonderful surgery results about Yi and Qi on the 2007 Medical Needs page.

Hope's Heart Orphan Foundation is pleased to announce that $2400 was raised at the September 10th "Shopping Extravaganza & Bake Sale" fundraising event. We are so grateful to all those who participated as planners, servers, shoppers and donors. Thank you for making the day a success!! The funds will be used to sponsor a baby room on the new addition being built on Hope Foster Home, Beijing, a home caring for severely ill orphan babies. Covered in the sponsorship will be the installation of electricity, windows, flooring, doors and plumbing. Completion of the addition is expected the early part of 2006.
We celebrate with Hope Foster Home as their new wing is completed. This beautiful facility serves as a place to minister to and provide a home for orphan babies born with severe medical challenges. We are grateful for the love, dedication, and caring environment provided by Dr. Hill and her staff.
